Hello Matomo community,
I am facing a perplexing problem with my website’s integration with Matomo (formerly Piwik), and I’m seeking help from fellow users and experts to address the issue.
Problem: My website utilizes Matomo for web analytics tracking, but recently, I have noticed that the data being recorded in Matomo seems inaccurate and inconsistent with the actual user behavior on the site.
Steps Taken:
- I have confirmed that the Matomo tracking code is correctly implemented on all pages of my website.
- I have checked for any errors in the website’s codebase that might interfere with the Matomo tracking script, but I couldn’t find any issues.
- I have tested the website on different browsers and devices, but the discrepancies in the analytics data persist across all of them.
Expected Behavior: When users visit my website, Matomo should accurately track and record various metrics, including the number of visitors, pageviews, referral sources, and user interactions. The analytics data should reflect the actual user engagement and provide insights into user behavior on the website.
Actual Behavior: The analytics data reported by Matomo appears to be inaccurate and inconsistent with the actual user interactions on the website. For example, the number of visitors seems unusually high compared to the website’s actual traffic, and certain user interactions, like clicks on specific elements, are not being recorded at all.
Additional Notes:
- Matomo has been successfully integrated with my website for a considerable time, and this issue seems to have arisen unexpectedly.
- I have verified that the Matomo installation and database are functioning correctly and have not encountered any errors during the tracking process.
Any suggestions, guidance, or troubleshooting tips that could help me resolve this issue and restore accurate website analytics tracking using Matomo would be highly appreciated. Thank you for your support!
Best regards.
