A couple days after updating to 4.1.1, I have started getting a “Oops… there was a problem during the request. Maybe the server had a temporary issue, or maybe you requested a report with too much data. Please try again” error when trying to view reports. The ‘real-time’ report does show the current visitors and sometimes the ‘visits log’ does too.
I have “Archive reports when viewed from the browser” off and my Cron Job appears to be working. The “matomo-archive-output” file after a Cron Job says this:

Should the process archives be zero or total API requests be zero?

When I try to do a full system check it says:

Illegal length modifier specified ‘f’ in s[np]printf call
in /home/***.com/vendor/twig/twig/src/Cache/FilesystemCache.php line 61

Any ideas what might be causing these problem?

I am using matomo for wordpress and it keeps showing the time spent on the last page of the visit as 0 seconds. I have enabled the heartbeat to ping every 5 seconds but it made no difference.

Is there anyway to fix this?

Sometimes it works properly, sometimes it doesn’t. If we:

1. set the parameter “Archive reports when viewed from the browser” to “Yes”, then

2. refresh our matomo page and then

3. we execute the command above, it works. It might be a coincidence though

Any lead will be very helpful for us!

Hi, first and foremost and would like to thank everybody who has worked extremely hard over the years to make Matomo/Piwik one of the best open source platforms out there. I have been a Matomo/Piwik user since 2008 and have managed to keep my data over the years.

I’m currently experiencing a weird issue with Matomo and the “Visitors Overview” and “Visits Over Time” dashboard widgets.

For some odd reason, when attempting to view my yearly stats, it’s not displaying all of my data from the year 2018.

The widgets are not displaying full data: for example, the “Visitors Overview” doesn’t provide data for number of visits, average duration, % visits that bounced but shows data from average generation time, pageviews, unique pageviews, total searches on your website, unique keywords.

Furthermore, the "Visits Over Time’ dashboard widget shows absolutely zero visits during the 2018 calendar year.

However, the “Returning Visits over time” widget shows data from 2018.

I have checked the database using phpMyAdmin and the visit logs for the entire 12 months are there.

Any recommendations as to how to fix this particular issue.

After the update to Matomo 3.14.1, the scheduled_reports_truncate limit parameter is no longer correct. The rows in the email reports are always limited to 100 regardless of the value set in the config.ini.php.
Is this a bug?

Hey there,

I am facing an issue after major upgrade to the latest Matomo version. I have Googled a lot and see it was an issue with some older versions, but it happens again to me (never happened before this upgrade).

The thing is that right after I visit the dashboard I get notification : Your session has expired due to inactivity. Please log in to continue.

When I login and go back to the dashboard, same notification happens.

I tried fixing it buy modifying core/Session.php , but seems like all needed changes are already present in latest version (Session Inactivity Timeout) and after few of reconnects I get temporary blocked because “too many failed attempts”

These are cookies I see once I reach dashboard:

Hi there,

I’ve tried to upgrade the databse from version 3.13.5-rc1 to the new version 4.2.0.

I’m getting the following error:

Error trying to execute the migration ‘UPDATE matomo_log_visit SET visitor_seconds_since_first = visitor_days_since_first * 86400,
visitor_seconds_since_order = visitor_days_since_order * 86400,
visitor_seconds_since_last = visitor_days_since_last * 86400;’.
The error was: SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 3100 Error on observer while running replication hook ‘before_commit’.

I’ve tried re-running the db upgrade, but I keep getting this error.

Hello, last night I updated to 4.2.0 and then I received the following:

A fatal error occurred
The following error just broke Matomo (v4.2.0):
Illegal length modifier specified ‘f’ in s[np]printf call
in /home/matomo/domain.com/vendor/twig/twig/src/Cache/FilesystemCache.php line 61

I followed the troubleshooting guide as much as possible. For example, I disabled plugins to no avail. Another troubleshooting technique is to restart the web server however, I cannot restart my web server becuase it is on a shared platform.

I then downloaded and opened a new install locally and compared line 61 code of the file FilesystemCache.php and it matches line 61 of that file that is live. At this point I am miffed about where to look to resolve this issue.

I admit, I am not as nerdy as I would like to be with this, but I am willing to dig in, I just need some direction.

After an Update to 4.2 archiving has become extremly slow, even when using auto-archive with a cronjob:
/usr/bin/php /path/to/matomo/console core:archive --url=http://example.org/matomo/

mytop shows that temporary tables are created and dropped very slowly and the archiving does produce high server load. All this came with the update to 4.2 and was not a problem before.

On that server Matomo is running on PHP 7.3 and MariaDB 10.0.38.

Hi there,

I have set up email reports in Matomo - one weekly and one daily. However, they just aren’t sending. I’ve even clicked the Send Report Now link and nothing is being sent. I am included in the email so I know they aren’t being sent out. This is crucial for stakeholder management and I can’t see an obvious reason why they’re not sending.

Hi,

I’ve been trying to count conversions with matomo when an URL with a certain URL pattern has been visited. The URL looks like this:

http://domain/keyword/keyword/1/2408

The regex we’ve created is this: domain/[^/]/[^/]/1/ which is correct according to regex101: build, test, and debug regex

But when using this regex in Matomo for conversion tracking, nothing happens.

Is there somethign wrong with matomo or could help me with a regex that works with matomo, please?

Hi,

I’m trying to import old google analytics data into a wordpress site but I’m having problems even accessing the “import” section within Matomo admin. The image below shows my issues:-

I have double checked I have the latest versions of both Matomo plugins so that shouldn’t be the problem?

I found this in this forum but I can’t seem to find how to clean the cache. Or maybe I just have to wait for it to expire?

Hi there,

we are having severe performance problems in our matomo installation (4.2), possibly after upgrading from 3.x, but that is not sure.

When a user logs in, it seems like there are several select statements searching in the matomo_log_action table but not using the hashed index for name.

With phpMyAdmin I can see that those SELECT’s are searching in 30 000 000 rows of matomo_log_action and they return about 7 000 rows with name “audi” in for example. This search takes about 100 seconds, the CPU Load goes to 100%.

This is the SELECT-statement, which causes the high load:

SELECT idaction FROM matomo_log_action WHERE ( name LIKE CONCAT(’%’, ‘audi-’, ‘%’) AND type = 4 )

=> Result is 7000 statements like this:

39194899
44399276
22335681

If I execute the statement by hand with the name-tag added to the statement ike this:

SELECT idaction,name FROM matomo_log_action WHERE ( name LIKE CONCAT(’%’, ‘audi-’, ‘%’) AND type = 4 )

it yields:

So far this is understandable for me but why takes this search place at all?

This statement originates from core/Tracker/TableLogAction.php and is built in the function

getSelectQueryWhereNameContains($matchType, $actionType)

and does not use the hashed index for name, obviously because there are wildcards in the name involved.

It seems like this has something to do with segmentation?

Any ideas on this problem would be appreciated…

I want to downgrade to version 4.1 for now, until this gets sorted out. Besides copying the 4.1 files at Matomo’s folder, what DB queries are needed? Or in general, what should be done about the database?

The 4.2 version didn’t work for me. I need to downgrade to the previous version as soon as possible.

I got matomo-4.1.1.zip from builds.matomo.org, but after uploading the files and replacing the default config.ini.php with the one I use, I got this error:

Your Matomo codebase is running the old version 4.1.1 and we have detected that your Matomo Database has already been upgraded to the newer version 4.2.0. Maybe your Matomo administrators are currently finishing the upgrade process. Please try again in a few minutes. If you still have this issue please contact your Matomo administrator for assistance. 

What needs to be done in the database in order to work?
I have searched your site, documentation, your github - there is no relevant database info.

Please respond, this has to be fixed.

I defined a goal whenever a user fires an event. The event triggers with a value. On my project the event is fired by this javascript code:

_paq.push(['trackEvent', eventCategory, eventAction, eventValue]);

where eventValue is an integer. When I look in Matomo at the events list I see that the event was fired and when I open the second tab on the event list “Ereignisaktion” in German there are value listed.

Additionally I set a goal based on this event and I clicked the checkbox to use the event value a the revenue. The events show up as reached goals but no revenue is calculated, it stays 0 (zero). Does anyone have an idea what causes this?
