It seems like our Matomo system suddenly has problems connecting to Matomo home.

If I enter the system with the admin user almost every click takes 1 minute to respond. I thought of a major problem but when I logged in as a standard user everything seems to work fine. But if I enter the Administration menu of the standard user I see three widgets showing “Loading data…” and after a while the widget “Matomo.org Blog” shows:

Oops… there was a problem during the request. Maybe the server had a temporary issue, or maybe you requested a report with too much data. Please try again. If this error occurs repeatedly please contact your Matomo administrator for assistance. - Error while importing feed: /var/www/piwik/core/Http.php(554): Warning - file_get_contents(https://matomo.org/feed/): failed to open stream: Connection timed out - Matomo 4.1.1 - Please report this message in the Matomo forums: https://forum.matomo.org (please do a search first as it might have been reported already)

I used curl from the console to check if https://matomo.org/feed/ is reachable from this machine. It is.
After that I checked if PHP get_headers gets the data and this works, too.

Matomo is version 4.1.1, PHP is 7.4.3 and the system check tells me that the system is fine.

What can I try to find the source of this problem?

I think the composer.lock file needs to be updated. It keeps failing on:

squizlabs/PHP_CodeSniffer
“https://github.com/squizlabs/PHP_CodeSniffer.git”

I’ve considered simply deleting this line from composer.json & composer.lock, but I don’t know how necessary this file is.

Hello,
On my personal Joomla site, I wanted to update Matomo in 1 click, from version 3.0.3 (Piwik) to the latest version 4.1.1
I have set write permissions (777) on main folder and subfolders.
I started the update.
As requested during the process, I manually deleted the folders and files (which Matomo didn’t expect to find).
I then clicked on the green button “Upgrade Matomo” and there I got a blank page in the browser.
I tried to access the consultation of my site’s statistics but each time I get a Matomo window indicating: "* Database update required. Your Matomo database is out of date and must be upgraded before you can continue. Matomo database will be upgraded from version 4.0.1-b1 to the new version 4.1.1 * ".
If I click on the green “Upgrade Matomo” button I get a blank page in the browser with this url : https://piwik.mydomain.fr/index.php?updateCorePlugins=1&module=CoreUpdater&action= and nothing happens.

With the new version of Matomo, is the database not up to date and Matomo wants to update it?
Why does the database have to be updated from version 4.0.1-b1 to version 4.1.1? The previous version of Piwik was version 3.0.3 !!!
In my case, obviously Matomo does not update my database.

In piwik_option table, I see among others this:
last_update_communication_sent_core = 4.1.1
MatomoUpdateHistory = 4.0.1-b1,3.0.3,
UpdateCheck_LatestVersion = 4.1.1
version_core = 4.0.1-b1
version_CoreUpdater = 4.1.1

For information, my web site, which works very well, is hosted on a shared server at OVH with a PHP version 7.3 and a SQL database version 5.6. I do not have the hand to change the version of this database.

What can I do to fix the problem?

Hello, first time user on this forum. I have loved Matomo as it has provided a secure and free alternative to Google analytics. However, ever since I have installed it I have not been able to see visits over time. I have only been able to see them in real-time. As a new user I guess I can only embed one media per post, so I merged all the screenshots of the errors I am getting into one image:

Hi everyone, I had a fatal error using the WP-Matomo Integration plugin:

Fatal error: Access level to Piwik\Plugins\Actions\Columns\ActionUrl::configureSegments() must be public (as in class Piwik\Columns\Dimension) in /piwik/plugins/Actions/Columns/ActionUrl.php on line 29

I contacted the plugin developer and he said:

“This looks like an error in Matomo/Piwik and not in this WordPress plugin (WP-Matomo/WP-Piwik). You should post this in the Matomo forums.”

Hi,

When I want to manage goals and ad new once, I always get the message bellow:

‘Oops… there was a problem during the request. Maybe the server had a temporary issue, or maybe you requested a report with too much data. Please try again. If this error occurs repeatedly please contact your Matomo administrator for assistance.’

I tried different browsers but I keep getting this message. We have goals installed, so it used to work.

What can I do to fix this?

Hello,

I have been following this guide in order to setup the google analytics importer. Everything went smoothly until it came to actually authorising the importer. After clicking the “Authorise” button it takes me to the Google log in page as expected. However, after logging in and getting redirected back at I get the error “Could not verify the security token on this form.”

I tried searching up this issue and I found some suggestions that this issue could just be fixed by waiting and trying again. However, I have been re-trying this all throughout the day and it is consistently failing.

This may be unrelated, but I am also getting the error “The uploaded file couldn’t be processed. Please check if the file has a valid format.” when I try to upload a custom logo or favicon.

Any help would be appreciated.

We are upgrading Matomo from 3.14.1 to 4.1.1 and upgrading LoginLDAP plugin from 4.0.7 to 4.3.0. When I do a user sync at the command line, every entry has the following warning.

UserSynchronizer.php(148): Notice - Undefined index: alias - Matomo 4.1.1

LDAP on matomo 3.14.1 has which are missing from 4.1.1:
“User Alias Field”
“Last Name Field”

Considering that our 4.0.7 deployment has two fields that are no longer present in the 4.3.0 LDAP configuration, which would make sense why we are getting the above error. What is the best way to resolve this issue?

LDAP users are also not able to login to Matomo at this time when access prior to the upgrade was successful.

I am encountering the following error message during a Google Analytics import, using Matomo Cloud:

Error message: Error on day (unknown), { "error": "invalid_grant", "error_description": "Bad Request" } 
These errors are unexpected and will likely continue every time you run the import on this day. To resolve this issue, please ask on the forums. If you can provide access to your GA account to a member of Matomo's support team it will provide a quicker resolution.

After succesfully implementing different tags and triggers, I went on to instal some goals in the dashboard.

I made a couple of goals and connected those to URL’s and tags.
After a while I went to check if they recorded any data, but they didn’t.

So, I installed more goals with all different variations on how to trigger them, but none of them worked properly…

Can someone tell me what it is I’m doing wrong? Cause I need these things to work.

Hello. Let’s say I have a domain abc[dot]com and I want to track that. I am using django for backend. And in cpanel, even in django, we can open files located in public_html (cpanel) without any configuration.

Now my question is, can I track abc[dot]com while matoma is installed in abc[dot]com/web ?

The problem now is, even after adding javascript file to head in base template file, visitors data are not showing up.

My domain: allscoremeter.com
Matoma: allscoremeter.com/spy/index.php

PS: Since django have inbuilt url conf, allscoremeter[dot]com/spy only will throw 404.

I’m having problems updating the version of the Matomo installation I have on a server. I perform the procedure that is documented step by step:

• Make backup of the database and files

• Put in maintenance mode and disable the log tracker

• Copy the Matomo 4.1.1 files in the path

• Launch Matomo update by command line: php console core: update
  In this step, I get the error that I have to correct as the screenshot shows. I delete that file and run the update process again.
  After finishing the update process, it throws me the following message with the following error:

I can’t continue and it stays on that page that is still waiting for updates in the database.
I had to revert to the previous version to detect why it is giving that failure in the update.
Any idea why this bug?

We are using Matomo 3.14.1 at different customer sites, and we recently stumbled upon a deviation of result counts of two different API calls, which we could not explain even after hours of research.
The two methods used are Live.getLastVisitsDetails and CustomDimensions.getCustomDimension.

We’re looking at the number of unique visitors of the site’s second instance (dimension16=up) in the year 2021. The first one seems to deliver the correct results, the second one has unexpainably less.
If we consolidate the result of the first call on userids (dimension12), we get 19 unique users, but the second call gives us only 13.

Here are the calls that we use:

API Q1
(hostname)/matomo?module=API&method=Live.getLastVisitsDetails&idSite=1&doNotFetchActions=1&segment=dimension16==up&period=year&date=2021-01-01&format=JSON&token_auth=(mytoken)&filter_limit=-1

API Q2
(hostname)/matomo?module=API&method=CustomDimensions.getCustomDimension&idSite=1&segment=dimension16==up&period=year&date=2021-01-01&format=JSON&idDimension=12&token_auth=(mytoken)&filter_limit=-1

The same deviation is also seen in Matomos build-in Expert View widgets. We created one widget “users”, which listst the 13, but the full Visits Log shows the actual 19.

Is this a bug? Or do we somehow overlook an error made in the build-up of the second query? Or are we comparing apples to oranges, and there is a reasonable explanation for this deviation?

Hey,

I am trying to track my website that is running on localhost:8082. I have given the link with the port number in website management, but Matomo is only tracking the page when opened using default port 80. Can someone help me with this please?
Matomo is being run using another local server on port 8090.

Hi,

We have an issue with archiving where it’s locked up (but doing something, I think) on the purgeInvalidatedArchives task.
The last entry in the archive log (it’s even running at vvv / DEBUG level) is:
INFO [2021-02-17 00:22:29] 108 Scheduler: executing task Piwik\Plugins\CoreAdminHome\Tasks.purgeInvalidatedArchives...
It’s been here for about 12 hours (I’ve left it to see if it will finish).
CPU utilisation on the server (ECS managed EC2 instance) has been at 50% since it started this process (around 00:25 this morning). So it seems to be doing something.
As far as I can tell, there’s not a lot of database activity.

Is there any way to tell what this is doing? Is it worth leaving it a little longer?

PS - this used to fail at this point due to memory issues (and would abort with an error at this point) - I’ve recently configured the PHP memory_limit fix.

Hello together,

when i want to access some dimension in matomo v3.9.1 (Plugin: custom dimensions v3.0.2) i get following error message:

SQLSTATE[45S22]: Column not found: 1054 Unknown column ‘log_link_visit_action.custom_dimension_2’ in ‘where clause’

I have look at my database i have only tables with prefix ‘piwik_’ , i dont know why but the plugin dont recognize the tables_prefix entry in config.ini and tries to access the database table without prefix.

Other matomo functions are working without problems, i hope you can help me!

Am using matomo onpremise version 4.1.0. Before Geolocation setup it was showing all the users from United States in the Location tab under Visitors. After a period of time i have done setup of DBIP/GeoIP 2 (Php ) in Geolocation but still in the new data tracked after setup is done it is showing most of the user from United States and only 1-2 users from Netherlands. Ideally it should show all the Users from Netherlands.

1. What can be the reason ? Is it still mapping the old users to old location and only new users are correctly mapped ?
2. I also tried "php ./console usercountry:attribute 2012-01-01,2013-01-01"in the cmd but am getting error as “Could not open input file: ./console”. I also tried “C:\Program Files (x86)\PHP\v8.0>php ./console usercountry:attribute 2012-01-01,2013-01-01
   Could not open input file: ./console” but same error.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hey!

I recently upgraded my matomo from 3.13. to 4.1.1. and also had to upgrade my php version from 7.2. to 7.4.9 to make matomo run on the server.

Since this upgrade my core:archive job is not working anmyore. Couldn’t find any solution on the internet. I also found nothing relating to this in the changelog.

My job runs as batch on a windows server an looks like this:

call c:\prog\php-7.4.9-Win32-vc15-x64\php.exe "c:\prog\Apache24\htdocs\piwik/console" core:archive --url=myUrl/piwik/ >> c:\logs\archiver-%date%.log 2>&1

The log says

"ERROR [2021-02-19 11:18:09] 13684  Uncaught exception: C:\prog\Apache24\htdocs\piwik\core\Segment.php(210): Segment 'customVariableValue1' is not a supported segment.
Segment 'customVariableValue1' is not a supported segment."

Any ideas?
