Piwik has been successfully updated!

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function Piwik\posix_getgrgid() in /var/www/vhosts/XXXXXYYY.fr/httpdocs/piwik/core/Filechecks.php on line 268

Howver Piwik seams to be ok but NOW:
I have into the piwik stats home page and each pages of piwik an XCACHE error

The following error just broke Piwik (v2.16.5):

XCache: Cannot init

Unknown line 0

just like here: https://forum.piwik.org/t/fatal-error-xcache-cannot-init/12509

My PHP is 5.4.45
The Xcache is coming with the virtual server (OVH) and has always been there.

Thank you

.htaccess issue in /misc/usr/ on some server configurations

$

@mirabyte wrote:

The /misc/ folder of the Piwik installation folder contains a .htaccess that basically blocks all access to the folder and it's subfolders.

However, the /misc/usr/ folder contains files like the custom logo that can be set which of course needs to be accessable by a normal HTTP GET. Therefore, the /usr/ folder has it's own .htaccess file which (re-)allows access to static files like e.g. PNG or JPG images.

The problem is that the code in the .htaccess file of the /usr/ folder does not unblock access to these files in all cases; there are various conditions that seem to allow access to the files for various server configurations but in my case these are not sufficient. I had to add the following code before the closing tag to make it work:

Order Allow,Deny
Allow from all

Maybe someone with profound Apache knowledge should take a look that that file in order to make it more compatible. Because otherwise the custom logo is not shown in the Piwik GUI!

Regards,

 Joe

Incorrect database size (and growing)

On the privacy settings page (index.php?module=PrivacyManager&action=privacy) :
Current database size:104.8 M
Estimated database size after purge: 104.4 M

However the actual disk size of the database reported in the SQL manager is currently 250 MB
I tried the purgeDataNowLink, but the actual database size on disk has not changed.

This happens on 2.16.1, traffic is low (50 visits daily), database is small and I would like it to stay like this without any mysterious leftovers on disk.

Piwik-Tracker renamed to "Adnymics Analytics"?

Hi,
since some days - I gues it was after the updating to 2.16.5 - the Ghostery Add-On in my browser identified an tracker named "Adnymics Analytics" instead of "Piwik Analytics".
What does this mean? Is the Piwik-Tracker renamed?
I gues then we have to adapt our privacy statements?
Thanks

Can you delete all data for a specific IP address yet?

@gregc wrote:

For various reasons it would be incredibly helpful to be able to delete all of the Piwik data associated with some specific IP addresses. Reasons such as the IP address belonging to a website speed test or monitoring service, my home IP address changing and me not noticing for a while for my own visits were tracked, etc. It would be nice to be able to completely remove this data from Piwik so that my reports are more accurate.

I've found past posts asking about this issue but the answers were either unclear or the posts aren't new and I don't want to run old SQL queries on my database in case they're out of date now.

Does anyone know if there's an easy way to do this yet? I first looked into this 5+ years ago and the feature didn't exist, and I know others have requested this feature in the past as well, so I'm really hoping there's an easy way to do this by now.

Piwik-specific attack?

@piwikrocks wrote:

At least several IPs have been hitting my server and showing up in my Piwik real-time tracker even though they aren't requesting any HTML pages. They're only requesting images, piwik.js, and piwik.php. The url parameter appearing along with their piwik.php request is always something like this:

file:///home/poo_master/price_parse/resource_cache/140137400891136tmp2.html

The only reference I've found to this sort of thing online is this thread:

http://forum.statcounter.com/vb/showthread.php?t=43288

Does this look like a Piwik-specific attack of some sort?

Of course, no changes had been made to the MySQL tables in advance.
Don’t have phpMyAdmin access to this site so I can’t verify if the table is actually missing or not.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Can't Install Piwik on BlueHost. Error: always_populate_raw_post_data=-1

I have my site hosted at Bluehost. I have read all (I believe) posts here that relates to this error, but none could helped.

I tried using php.ini and edited it, I tried creating the .htaccess file in piwik folder, in public_html folder and so on.

Have anyone got that working on bluehost?

Their technical support didn't helped, they said:

"Unfortunately I am not able to install Piwik.
Checked with specialists and they insist to install it manually with the help of a developer.
Yes, I have. And it is something that needs to be edited in php.ini
Since this is a 3rd party software, we cannot provide much support. Because this is something out of our scope of support."

Updated to PHP 5.6.2 and now Piwik doesn't work

@danny2305 wrote:

Hi,
I had the message inside Piwik to upgrade my PHP version:

You must upgrade your PHP version in order to receive the latest Piwik update.
Piwik cannot be upgraded to the latest major version because your PHP version is too old. Please upgrade your PHP version to at least PHP 5.5.9 so your Piwik analytics data stays secure.
Warning
Piwik will stop supporting PHP 5.3 in the next major version. Upgrade your PHP to at least PHP 5.5.9, before it's too late! The PHP version 5.3 you are using has reached its End of Life (EOL). You are strongly urged to upgrade to a current version, as using this version may expose you to security vulnerabilities and bugs that have been fixed in more recent versions of PHP.

So I asked my web hosts and they updated it to version 5.6.20, however then if I went to my Piwik login it now showed an internal server error and I couldn't even log in.

I asked my hosts again and they said the error logs were showing the following when loading the page:

[Fri Oct 07 01:41:08 2016] [error] client 192.240.191.2Connection reset by peer: FastCGI: comm with server "/dev/shm/danlacey-php.fcgi" aborted: read failed, referer: -myloginurl-

[Fri Oct 07 01:41:13 2016] [error] client 192.240.191.2Connection reset by peer: FastCGI: comm with server "/dev/shm/danlacey-php.fcgi" aborted: read failed, referer: -myloginurl-
[Fri Oct 07 01:41:13 2016] [error] [client 192.240.191.2] FastCGI: incomplete headers (0 bytes) received from server "/dev/shm/danlacey-php.fcgi", referer: -myloginurl-

Note: I replaced https://danlacey.com/analytics with -myloginurl- as it will only let me post 2 links with being a new user.

And so they disabled the PHP cache because they said this could be the problem - which means I can now log in, however it isn't showing any data inside of Piwik itself now, presumably as a result of disabling the PHP cache and not fixing the underlying issue. I can move around the menus etc, just there are no graphs or stats of any kind.

Can someone please help me get this fixed? I'd really appreciate any help on this.

Many thanks
Dan

Piwik tracks much more visits/searches compared to Apache logs

$

@Wouter_Admiraal wrote:

Hi all.

I have a Piwik instance running, and was surprised to see the huge amount of pageviews and searches Piwik was recording. I'm using a bit of a special setup: the stats are tracking the usage of an API. Every time an event occurs, the API code sends a request to the Piwik server using the piwik/piwik-php-tracker library. This means there's no Javascript snippets involved. So far, so good. I log this call to Piwik, and can confirm it only calls the doTrackSiteSearch() or doTrackPageView() once for every event.

When I went to check the Apache logs, I saw there is a huge difference in recorded values (period of 1st of September until the 30th; in Apache, I'm simply grep'ing, namely grep -e "/Sep/" access.log.all | grep "/v2/search" | wc -l and grep -e "/Sep/" access.log.all | grep "GET /v2/description" | wc -l; these 2 paths are the only ones that trigger calls to Piwik)

Pageviews: Piwik 89'460; Apache 23'030
Searches: Piwik 227'095; Apache 57'880

That's roughly 3.9 times more, for both figures (which is reassuring: it means something logical must be going on).

Anyone any ideas of what might be going on? Why is Piwik treating single events as multiple ones?

I don't really care about your political stance on the whole Tibet thing.
But if you want to advocate your "Tibet Independence" view, please correctly label that region.

As far as anyone is concerned there's no country name "Intl_Country_T".
Either label it "Tibet" or make it part of ”China", what you are doing now seems childish....

Other than that, love your work :slight_smile:

Not tracking visits after upgrade to 2.16.5

@blau wrote:

After upgrading from 2.16.2 to 2.16.5 my piwik instance has stoped logging visits. The visits show up in the Visitor Log (in the piwik web UI) but the Vists graph shows zero visits and if I select a single day (after the upgrade), it has zero visits.

Piwik 2.16.5 wp 4.6.1, nginx+php5-fpm+mariadb on Debian Jessie (stable)

nginx, php, mariadb are up and running, I can access the web UI, the tracked web sites contacting piwik (I see it in the webserver access log).

I did a manual upgrade from CLI disabling piwik web UI and piwik tracking

[Tracker]
record_statistics = 0
[General]
maintenance_mode = 1

Where could I start digging to find the root of this issue?

What do I need to change here to exclude these two file from being redirected to ssl?
